আজ সারা বিশ্বে লক্ষ লক্ষ মহিলা এবং কিশোরী কলঙ্কিত, বর্জিত এবং বৈষম্যের শিকার হন শুধুমাত্র এই একটি কারণেই যে তাঁদের ঋতুস্রাব হয়। একটি প্রাকৃতিক শারীরিক ক্রিয়াকলাপের কারণে মহিলা ও কিশোরীরা শিক্ষা লাভ, উপার্জন এবং দৈনন্দিন জীবনে সম্পূর্ণ এবং সমানভাবে অংশগ্রহণ থেকে দূরে থাকবে, এটা গ্রহণযোগ্য হতে পারে না।
এই বাধাগুলি ভেঙে ফেলুন এবং মাসিককে ঘিরে কলঙ্কের অবসান ঘটান। মাসিক পণ্যের সহজ প্রাপ্তি, মাসিক সম্পর্কে শিক্ষা এবং পিরিয়ড-বান্ধব স্যানিটেশন সুবিধা সংক্রান্ত চ্যালেঞ্জ সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা বাড়ান।
জার্মান ভিত্তিক অ-সরকারি সংস্থা ‘ওয়াশ ইউনাইটেড’ ২০১৪ সাল থেকে ২৮ মে তারিখটি Menstrual Hygiene Day হিসাবে বিশ্বব্যাপী পালন করছে। যার লক্ষ্য হল – এমন একটি বিশ্ব গড়ে তোলা যেখানে ২০৩০ সালের মধ্যে ঋতুস্রাবের কারণে কোনও মহিলা বা কিশোরী পিছিয়ে থাকবে না।
আমরা ‘ওয়াশ ইউনাইটেড’-এর সঙ্গে একমত যে ঋতুস্রাব হয় এমন প্রত্যেকেই নিজেকে একজন মহিলা হিসাবে পরিচয় দেন না এবং সমস্ত মহিলার ঋতুস্রাব হয় না।
Millions of women and girls around the world today are stigmatized, excluded, and discriminated against simply because they menstruate. It is unacceptable that a natural physical process prevents women and girls from learning, earning, and participating fully and equally in everyday life. Our goal is to break down these barriers and end the stigma surrounding menstruation by raising awareness about the challenges related to easy access to menstrual products, education about menstruation, and period-friendly sanitation facilities.
The German-based non-governmental organization Wash United has been celebrating May 28 as Menstrual Hygiene Day globally since 2014. The aim is to build a world where by 2030, no woman or girl is held back by menstruation. Our goal is to raise awareness in society.
